Leavin' On a Jet Plane

...Well, a car, actually.

Leaving Seattle tonight at 9pm on a road trip to Mexico! Guadalajara, to be exact. We'll go East for awhile, then turn south into Idaho, Utah and Arizona before crossing the border into our destination country. Along the way we'll see SLC and The Grand Canyon. Ever seen the sunrise at the canyon? I hear it's amazing - pictures to come!

Our traveling companions include a skinny white guy who is fluent in Spanish, and his lovely wife, who is from Guadalajara. We'll be staying with her family, eating what I'm sure will be amazing Mexican food and drinking too-strong margaritas (on the rocks with salt, thank you very much). While we're there, we'll be attending a Quincenera for a family friend.

See you in 2 weeks!

Well Said

This article has some very interesting points. It's one of those pieces that made me go, "Yeah! I totally agree, but haven't known how to express it!" Thanks Jacob for the link.

For Your Information

Birthday! Birthday! Birthday!

My 27th birthday is next week! For those of you interested, here is a list of things that I wouldn't mind having:

Text Message Conversation

Me: A black man just told me that I was "Juicy". From now on, I only respond to "Badonkachu".

Me: Badonkachu loves you!

Nick: Man Bear love you!

Consumerism!

Alright. Those of you who know me at all realize that I almost never wear makeup. I'm a chapstick and moisturizer girl. So, as I'm sure you can all imagine, I was pretty shocked when I fell in love with this. Seriously, this stuff is awesome, People. It really is. I tried it out last night, and found that it gave me that shiny-pouty-supersexy-celebrity look that so many glosses advertise but don't deliver. Not only that, but it didn't dry my lips like most lipsticks, AND I still had sparkly lips in the morning! I felt like I was in a movie - minus the great hair. Well, my hair was truly fantastic, but not in a go-out-in-public way.

Since I'm a bit of a minimalist, I bought the lightest color I could find. I thought it was going to be a bit too reminiscent of my Tinkerbell makeup kit days, but it was actually quite nice. Very subtle color with a hint of sparkle.

So Ladies, Go! Buy! Gloss!

I Know What You Ate Last Summer

My boss just asked me for ideas on what to serve to her mother-in-law for dinner tonight. This is what I came up with:

  • Salmon, topped with thin slices of lemon, grilled in foil
  • Small red potatoes, halved, boiled just slightly, sauteed with lemon thyme and garlic
  • Steamed asparagus topped with caramelized pancetta and shallots

What are YOU having for dinner?
